Conrad Bali Resort Pool Suite review

The Conrad Bali has a total of three pool suites: Two of them are identical (and located right next to each other on the ground level) while the third is the 4th floor Penthouse Suite, which goes for over $4,500 per night. The two pool suites are both in the Conrad Suites section of the resort, which means booking one gets you access to the club lounge and a variety of on-site discounts and benefits. None of the pool suites show up in the search results of the Conrad Bali website, so you will have to contact the hotel directly to book one.

The Conrad Bali Pool Suite was going for around $550 with taxes and fees. We’d traveled all the way to Bali and I wanted to spoil my parents a little. Everyone thinks their parents are the best (with some notable exceptions), but the more I look around and see how self-centered people are these days, the more I appreciate them. So I wanted to make sure they had the best possible experience everywhere we went. I don’t think I managed that anywhere else as well as at the Conrad Bali.

The Conrad Pool Suite is located on the ground floor, at the end of the Conrad Suites building. Upon approaching the suite, you can hear water from a small fountain right over the wall. When I initially saw it I thought, “Oh no. Please tell me they’re not trying to pass this off as a pool!” Thankfully that wasn’t the case. If you think I’m crazy for thinking a small fountain could be marketed as a plunge pool, take a look at the bird bath at the Ayana Resort in Jimbaran Bay being passed off as a pool.

At 1,300 sqft, the Conrad Pool Suite is slightly larger than the Conrad suite. However, the layout is the same. There is a bar and dining area across from the living room, which is separated from the bedroom by two sliding doors.

Conrad Bali Pool Suite Master Bedroom

The master bedroom was fairly large and featured a king bed, two chairs, the same storage space as the Conrad Suite and a TV. Off to the side was a sliding door leading to the bathroom. It’s the exact same layout as the standard suite my siblings and I were staying in, though it was slightly more spacious.

There were two glass sliding doors leading to the yard, where the pool is located. One door was in the living room and the other in the bedroom, which lead directly into the saltwater pool. There weren’t many pictures online of the pool suite, except for one on Tripadvisor, which made it seem narrow and tiny. However, I was surprised by how large the pool actually was. The front desk associate who helped with the booking informed me the pool was 300 sqft. I believe it was 4 feet deep and every morning it was cleaned along with the rest of the suite.

Next to the pool was a large cabana. This was a great spot to relax and read during the day while enjoying the beautiful weather. There was no shortage of seating because in addition to the cabana, there was also a day bed next to a table along with two chairs.

Another great thing about the suite, aside from the private pool, was that it was just steps from the beach. The small wooden gate had a door that lead to the lawn by the chapel. Despite being on the ground floor, the Pool Suite felt very private. We never really noticed people walking by, except for when a wedding took place.

My parents stayed in the Conrad Pool Suite , but it was also where we all gathered and hung out. At 50,000 Barclay Arrival miles per night, it was worth it. Earning this many miles would require $25,000 worth of manufactured spending per night. This used to be a piece of cake, but I probably won’t be able to pull that off going forward, since manufactured spending has gotten a bit more difficult with shopping portals pulling Amex gift cards and all.

Conrad Bali Pool Suite Upgrade Options

The Conrad Bali does offer options to upgrade to a Pool Suite from several other room categories. These options don’t always make sense. For example, I was quoted an extra $200 per night to upgrade from a Conrad Suite to a Pool Suite. Since the Conrad Suite was $325 and the Pool Suite $495, it would have cost more to upgrade than to book the Pool Suite.

You could book a suite with points for around 97,000 Hilton Honors per night and then upgrade with cash. However, that’s a lot of points to part with if you’re going to tack on a $200 upgrade fee. Sure, I saved a lot of Hilton points by redeeming Arrival Miles. But I also banked 44,000 Hilton points thanks to a double points promotion and my elite status bonus.

If you’re staying at the Conrad Bali and want to splurge a little, I absolutely recommend the Conrad Pool Suite. It’s not absurdly priced – in fact, it was cheaper than most other pool suites offered at nearby hotels. And if you’re going to travel all the way to Bali, you might as well get a room you would not be able to book back home.
