Do you have plans to visit Mexico between now and June 15, 2015? If so, you’ll be pleased to hear that IHG is having a Mexico Flash Sale, offering 30% off their Best Flexible rates through June 15. The sale starts on March 13 at 12:01 AM and is valid on stays at over 120 IHG hotels in Mexico. The discount is exclusively offered to IHG members, so make sure you’re a registered member to save on your Mexico hotel bookings. To qualify for the 30% discount, you must book a minimum of 2 nights and no more than 7.
There are a few hotels not participating in this promotion, including the Holiday Inn Express Veracruz, Holiday Inn Boca del Rio and the Holiday Inn Centro Historico Veracruz. It’s worth noting that IHG has two all-inclusive properties in Mexico: The Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos and Intercontinental Presidente Ixtapa Resort.
I checked rates at these resorts around spring break (late March/early April) and the they’re around $350 per night for two people per room at the Holiday Inn Los Cabos and $300 at the Intercontinental Presidente Ixtapa. These are actually pretty low rates for all-inclusive resorts and factoring in the 30% discount makes them even more of a bargain. If you’re redeeming Arrival miles, you’ll need 31,500 per night for the Holiday Inn Los Cabos and 27,000 miles per night at the Intercontinental Presidente Ixtapa (after the 10% travel rebate). Considering it takes just $15,250/$13,500 of spend to generate these points, it’s a great value.
If you’ve already booked a stay at an IHG hotel in Mexico that falls during the promotion period, I would cancel and rebook when the sale goes live tomorrow. Even if your rate is non-refundable, I’d reach out to IHG or the hotel and see if they’ll make an exception for you, since you’re simply rebooking under a lower rate. The IHG Mexico flash sale starts at 12:01 AM (hotel’s local time) tomorrow and ends at 11:59 PM (local time) on March 16.
What do you think of IHG’s Mexico flash sale? Does this affect your vacation plans at all?
