20% off Hyatt award redemptions through July 31, 2015

Update: According to Hyatt’s Twitter team, the 20% discount will be applied to all award stays during the promotion period, regardless of when your Chase Hyatt Visa was acquired.

Last week, Hyatt introduced some positive additions for Platinum and Diamond elite members. At the time, I mentioned that Hyatt would be announcing another exciting development, but the information was embargoed until today. It’s pretty exciting, especially if you are a Chase Hyatt Visa cardholders and have upcoming Hyatt award stays: Through July 31, 2015, cardholders who book award stays receive 20% of their points back. This applies to redemptions between February 17 – July 31, 2015. Cardholders must register by March 31, 2015 in order to qualify for the rebate. The 20% point rebate will be deposited within 4-6 weeks after redemption.

The 20% discount applies to points/Points + Cash awards, suite upgrades, dining, and spa redemptions. The fact that Points + Cash awards qualify is especially great if you’re earning points through manufactured spending, since Points + Cash awards can be cheaper than award redemptions. To take advantage of this 20% award redemption discount, Hyatt Visa cardholders must do the following:

STEP 1: Register for this promotion by entering your information to the right before March 31, 2015.

2: Book a stay with points and complete your stay before July 31, 2015.

3: Get 20% of your points back. Your points will be deposited directly into your Hyatt Gold Passport account 4-6 weeks after your completed stay.

The only down side to this promotion is that it’s limited to existing Chase Hyatt Visa cardholders. So if you don’t already have the card, you’re out of luck. However, if you’re planning on picking up a Hyatt Visa during this promotion, I’d absolutely reach out to Hyatt after activating the card to see if they’ll make an exception and allow you to register.

The Chase Hyatt Visa currently offers two free nights at any Hyatt hotel after $1,000 spent within 3 months. The $75 annual fee is waived. However, you can get an additional $50 statement credit if you sign up for the card while booking a stay online. You don’t actually have to book the stay to get this offer – simply proceed to the booking page and the offer will show up in the payment section.

  1. From what I understand this is targeted to specific Hyatt cardholders as reported on MMS and well…by me. Both my wife and I are Hyatt cardmembers in good standing for years. My wife was accepted into the promo but I was denied, not eligible it said. Almost identical accounts.

    1. The Hyatt twitter team has confirmed it’s open to all Hyatt cardholders. If you’re not able to register online, a Hyatt Gold Passport rep can get you registered via phone.
