37 holiday gifts every frequent traveler will love

Finding the perfect gift for travelers can be a challenge. After all, what do you give someone who travels the world and either shuns material possessions or has access to an array of international products? Here’s the good news: Travelers appreciate thoughtful and practical presents that enhance their experiences.

From high-tech gadgets to cozy travel essentials, I’ve curated a list of the best gifts travelers will truly appreciate. The list covers a wide range of items for every budget, including both luxury items and practical stocking stuffers.

Some of these products I’ve personally used and loved. Others are cult favorites that are popular among frequent travelers. Without further ado, here are travel gift ideas for the holidays:

Luggage gifts for travelers

The right luggage and organizational tools are key to any traveler’s toolkit. As a frequent traveler, I love anything that takes up less space, is practical, performs multiple functions, and is pretty. Because let’s face it, we all like pretty things sometimes. Here are some luggage and organizational tools that frequent travelers will love this holiday season:

A good weekender bag

Every traveler needs a good weekender bag, and if you can gift the right one, you’re golden. A popular (and affordable) option is the popular Member’s Mark Weekender Travel Bag from Sam’s Club. It’s sturdy, offers a separate compartment for shoes, and costs just $49.98

Price: $49.98

But my personal favorite is the July Carry All Weekender Plus bag. With most weekender bags, everything gets stuffed in, and you have to really dig to find things. This bag has a clamshell opening, which makes storing and retrieving your things so much easier. It’s pricey at $295 and currently not on sale, which is a bummer.

Price: $295

Away aluminum luggage

Aluminum luggage is expensive and not exactly practical, but it is pretty and thus makes a great gift if you want to splurge a little. I’ve had the Away aluminum Bigger Carry-on for four years now, and it’s my go-to bag for most trips. It offers tons of space and gets lots of compliments everywhere I go.

I bought mine in gold, but I’m seriously considering getting a black one. Anyway, this isn’t about me! This is about you finding an impressive gift for your favorite traveler, and the Away aluminum bag is a great choice.

Away aluminum luggage doesn’t go on sale often, but you can currently get it for 25% off. That puts the bag at the low end in terms of aluminum luggage prices.

Price: $468-$558

Packing cubes

The right packing cubes can make an excellent holiday gift for travelers. I say “the right” packing cubes because there are plenty out there that are terrible quality. My favorites are from Open Story, a brand you can find at Target for a reasonable price.

These packing cubes are incredibly well made and come in two colors. They’re currently on sale for half off. I’ve had these for several years, and they’ve held up incredibly well. If you want packing cubes that are good quality and reasonably priced, look no further.

Price: $24.99

Cadence travel containers

I know lots of travelers who swear by these magnetic Cadence Travel Containers. I was thrilled when I received them as a gift at an Expedia media event. But here’s the thing: They’re not super practical, and they are pricey. I prefer travel containers with pumps to get products out easier, but to each his own.

They’re magnetic, easy to transport, they look unique, and people love them. Hence, these can be a great gift for travelers.

Cadence is currently running a 25% off sale, so you can get their travel containers for a lot less. They might be even cheaper on Amazon. For example, the 3-piece body set costs $72 on the Cadence website but sells for $55 on Amazon.

The cheapest option is the skincare set, which is available for $33.60.

Price: $33.60-$55

Bandolier Hailey crossbody phone case

The Bandolier Hailey crossbody phone case is essentially an iPhone case with a crossbody strap and a small purse compartment for your credit cards and ID. It’s the perfect gift for travelers who want something smaller than a purse that’s still stylish and practical.

The case is on sale for $86.40. These cases are compatible with numerous iPhone models, including the 14 Pro, 14 Pro Max, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max.

Price: $86.40

There is a more affordable dupe at Target, though it’s only compatible with the iPhone 13 Pro: The RAPTIC Noémie Wallet & Crossbody Strap Case. This case bag costs just $38.99 – over half the price of the Bandolier model.

Price: $38.99

Tech gifts for travelers

Travelers love a good tech gadget that provides convenience and practicality in one. Whether you’re shopping for a travel tech nerd or someone more pragmatic, here are six tech gifts for travelers:

Anker 733 power bank

The Anker 733 power bank is one of my best travel tech purchases and a perfect gift for any traveler. What makes this power bank so unique is that it’s not only a power bank that lets you charge your devices on the go, but it also plugs into wall power outlets. So you can use it to consolidate your chargers.

Rather than bringing a charger for your laptop, phone, and other electronic devices, you just bring this and the necessary cords for each item. It will save you a ton of space and provide plenty of power for everything. At 65W, it’s enough to charge your laptop or multiple cell phones at once.

Better yet, the Anker 733 power bank is currently on sale for just $58.99. You can buy it directly from Anker, Costco or Amazon. I would personally recommend getting it from Costco or Amazon, since Anker’s customer service isn’t the best, and they make you pay for shipping if you decide to return the product. Still, Anker products are incredibly well-made and will last you a long time. Pick up an Anker 733 power bank and thank me later.

Price: $58.99

Epicka TA-205 Universal Travel Adapter

A universal travel adapter is a must for any international traveler, and makes a great gift.  The Epicka TA-205 Universal Travel Adapter is a great gift for international travelers. The company makes lots of different (and excellent) universal travel adapters, but the TA-205 is compact, has fast-charge capability, and offers three USB-A and two USB-C ports.

This adapter works in over 200 countries and is currently on sale for $27.99 on Amazon.

Price: $27.99

Kindle Paperwhite

If you’re looking for a practical yet affordable travel gift idea, a Kindle Paperwhite is a great choice. It’s small, light, and waterproof, making it the perfect accessory for frequent travelers who like to read. You can get many books for free by downloading the Libby App and linking your local library card. While Kindle Unlimited books are subpar, Amazon Prime Reading offers tons of excellent reading material (free of charge), including many classics.

For years, I was one of those people who “needs to read a physical book” because screens just don’t provide the same experience. However, the Kindle Paperwhite is remarkably close to a real book and offers distraction-free reading. Trust me, once you get one, you won’t go back to lugging multiple books on your trips.

For a more affordable version, you can pick up a regular Kindle for $84.99. However, it won’t be water proof.

Price: $84-$129.99

Apple Airtags

Apple Airtags have long been popular among travelers keen to track their luggage. However, because Apple is sharing Airtag locations with airlines, these little gadgets are more useful. You can buy a four-pack for around $100, though they’re currently on sale for $72.99

Apple Airtags make a great gift for travelers and really anyone who wants to keep track of their valuables. I bought a pack when they went on sale last year and attacked it to keychains, gifting each one to family members so they can keep track of their car keys. Needless to say, the panicked calls for “Has anyone seen my keys?!” have dropped significantly.

Price: $72.99

Noise-canceling headphones

A pair of noise-canceling headphones makes a great travel gift for frequent travels. I personally get ear pain from noise-canceling headphones, but plenty of travelers swear by them. There’s a reason they’re handed out in first-class cabins – they help quiet an otherwise noisy airplane cabin so travelers can get better sleep.

The Bose QuietComfort headphones are one of the most popular models. While they typically cost over $350, you can buy them for $199 on Amazon or directly from Bose. You can knock another 10% off the purchase price via Rakuten, which offers 10% cash back at Bose.

Price: $199

Twelve South AirFly wireless audio transmitter

The Twelve South AirFly wireless audio transmitter is a useful gadget for travelers who like to use the in-flight entertainment system without relying on cheap airline earbuds. You can instead use your own headphones by pairing them with the AirFly via Bluetooth. Then simply plug the AirFly into the IFE’s headphone jack, and you will enjoy significantly better audio quality.

I got one of these as part of a swag bag at a Wells Fargo press trip earlier this year. It’s so practical and useful, especially on international flights where I’m flying economy class and don’t have access to fancy headphones.

Price: $34.99

Luxury gifts for travelers

If you’re looking for a high-end gift (and don’t mind spending a little), there are lots of great gifts ranging from smart glasses to self-cleaning water bottles and more. Here are six luxury travel gift ideas for frequent travelers:

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses

Ray-Ban Meta glasses are a great luxury gift idea for travelers who like to document their travel experiences while staying in the moment. Ray-Ban’s Meta Smart Glasses allow you to do this seamlessly, thanks to cool functions, including photo, video, audio, and voice commands. You can ask the Meta AI questions, get answers in real time, conduct video calls, and more.

These smart glasses come with clear, transition, or sunglass lenses. There are three models to choose from: The classic Wayfarer, Headliner, and Skyler.

I was gifted a pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses (the Wayfarer model) on the aforementioned Wells Fargo press trip. Not only do I love the style, but it’s a pretty cool gadget that allows me to take photos and videos hands-free.

If you’re trying to think of a gift for your favorite travel lover (who is also a tech nerd), Ray-Ban Meta glasses are a great choice. You can buy them as low as $239 during the current sale. Plus, check Amex Offers for extra savings. Not too long ago, I saw a $35 off deal on Ray-Ban purchases and 500 bonus points for every $50 spent on Amazon.

Price: $239-$263

Nori steam press

Frequent travelers are all too familiar with the hassles of ironing clothes in hotel rooms. Dragging out the ironic board is often a hassle, and I’ve personally ruined more than one clothing item because the hotel-provided ironing board had a piece of burnt fabric stuck to it. While plenty of hotels offer steamers, they’re often heavy and a pain to use.

That’s where the Nori steam press comes in: This gadget offers a dual steam and ironing function and is incredibly lightweight at just 1.5 lb. It’s shaped like a kitchen tong, allowing you to easily grab and run it through the fabric.

The Nori steam press is currently on sale for $72 at Saks Fifth Avenue, plus 15% cash back via Rakuten. If you haven’t used your $50 quarterly Saks credit from The Platinum Card® from American Express, this is a great way to put it to use. You can also buy one at Bloomingdale’s for $90 and get 12% back via Rakuten.

Price: $72 at Saks Fifth Avenue or $90 at Bloomingdale’s

Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more.

Moleskine Smart Writing Set

The Moleskine smart writing set allows you to write in a paper notebook and then creates a digital copy you can access on the app. It’s a great luxury gift for travelers who want a travel journal without worrying about losing it on the road. With the smart writing set, they’ll always have a digital copy of their writings on the cloud.

The Moleskine smart writing pen is compatible with three types of notebooks, including a bullet format, a blank notebook for drawing, and lined paper.

Price: $279

Cashmere travel set

Is a cashmere travel set practical or necessary? No. But if you’re looking for a luxury travel gift, it’s a decadent option that the right traveler will appreciate. Several companies sell cashmere travel sets consisting of a blanket, eyemask and pillow for around $400. However, Nordstrom currently has one on sale for $186.75.

If you’re looking for a luxury gift for a discerning traveler, it’s probably the most affordable cashmere travel set you’ll find right now.

WACACO Minipresso Portable Espresso Machine

Good coffee can be elusive when you’re traveling.  I don’t know about you all, but one of the things I miss most when I’m traveling is good coffee. Ever since I got an expresso machine, I prefer to concoct my own coffee rather than take my chances going into an unknown cafe.

Some hotels offer Nespresso machines, while others have standard coffee makers that allegedly get used to wash underwear (yeah, you read that right). Those who don’t want to take chances on underwear-soaked espresso will appreciate the WACACO Minipresso Portable Espresso Machine. It’s small, portable and all you need is some hot water and coffee. You can buy ground coffee from any grocery store, and hot water is readily available in most hotel rooms (or coffee shops).

Price: $43.92

LARQ Bottle PureVis 2

With all the microplastics in water bottles and lead in popular tumblers, staying hydrated during your travels can be challenging. Dubbed “the world’s first self-cleaning water bottle,” LARQ bottle solves this problem. This BPA-free bottle is equipped with a UV light that sterilizes the bottle and a filter that ensures clean drinking water. It also tracks your water consumption through a built-in sensor and mobile app.

The 34 oz LARQ PureVis 2 is currently on sale for $95.20. You can get $5 off by signing up to receive email notifications or earn 2% cash back from Rakuten.

Price: $95.20

Budget-friendly gifts for travelers

Whether your’e on a budget or looking for stocking stuffers, there are lots of great options out there. I’ve rounded up some of my personal favorites that have come in handy over the years. Here are some ideas for practical travel gifts for under $50

JISULIFE Handheld fan

The JISULIFE Handheld fan is an affordable gift any traveler will appreciate. Aside from its primary function as a fan, it can also be used as a power bank and flashlight.

I got one over the summer, and it has come in handy during many a heat wave, including a particularly hot day at a crowded amusement park.

The quality is excellent, the bear shape is cute, and its foldable design makes it easy to fit in your pocket or purse. The fan blade is made of strong silicone, so it works very well without causing damage if you accidentally touch it while in motion.

The JISULIFE fan is chargeable via a USB port and works for up to 46 hours at full charge. It’s an inexpensive gift idea for any traveler and is  currently discounted to $13.19.

Price: $13.19

Luxebelle digital luggage scale

Any frequent traveler will appreciate a luggage scale, especially on trips where they shopped a little too much and want to avoid baggage fees on the return home. The Luxebelle digital luggage scale is a great budget-friendly travel gift, offering a sleek design and up to 110 lb capacity. This scale makes a great stocking stuffer and is currently on sale for just $7.99.

Price: $7.99

Scratch The World Travel Map

A scratch-off world map makes a great budget-friendly gift for travelers, providing a fun way to document all the countries they’ve visited. The end result is an aesthetically pleasing map they can display of all their adventures. Priced at under $30, this is a great budget gift any globetrotter will appreciate (if they don’t already have one)

Price: $28.39

EarPlanes

EarPlanes are an essential stocking stuffer for any frequent traveler. If they ever fly with a cold or congestion, they will thank you for including this must-have item in their travel pack. EarPlanes are small (but mighty) earplugs that help regulate air pressure and alleviate ear pain caused by congestion.

They’re inexpensive at under $10 but a real lifesaver for any frequent traveler boarding a flight while sick.

Price: $7.29

Travel books and journals

Maybe I’m weird, but I happen to think books make great gifts. There’s nothing I love more than getting a book as a gift – it says, “Here’s something that entertained, inspired, or resonated with me. I hope it does the same for you.” Gifting a book is personal, thoughtful and could even be life-changing.

I’ve shared my my favorite books for travel inspiration. The list is a bit outdated, so here are some other books (and journals) that travelers will appreciate as a gift:

World Travel: An Irreverent Guide

Ask any travel enthusiast which travel journalist inspired them the most – chances are, it’s Anthony Bourdain. He made the most remote destinations accessible to audiences worldwide and viewed each place he visited with an open mind. While other travel programs showed sanitized versions of known European cities from the sole perspective of an American tourist, Bourdain ventured where others wouldn’t – often with a local in tow.

Needless to say, his refreshingly honest perspective is sorely missed. But you can get a glimpse of it for your favorite traveler/Bourdain fan by gifting them his posthumously published “World Travel: An Irreverent Guide.”

Price: $14.68

Before We Were Innocent by Ella German

I don’t know that “Before We Were Innocent” will inspire travel wanderlust (it might have the opposite effect if you’re gifting this to a young person with travel aspirations), but it’s definitely a page-turner.

The story follows three high school friends on a post-graduation trip to Greece, where things take a wrong turn. You can call it a psychological thriller, a coming-of-age story, and a mystery all in one. I loved this book because it encompasses so many of the fears, anxieties, and excitement that comes with travel.

Gift this book to your favorite world traveler and they’ll breeze through it.

Price: $13.99

Lonely Planet books

Lonely Planet books make great gifts for any travel enthusiast. Their destination guides are comprehensive, engaging, and pretty! They also have books on specific topics like epic bike rides, hiking, road trips, and more. Lonely Planet is offering 30% off their guidebooks when you buy them directly.

If you’re not sure about which destination guide to get, you can’t go wrong with “The Travel Book: A Journey Through Every Country in the World” or “Where to Go When.” Both of these books are bound to thrill any travel enthusiast.

Price: From $7.95

Travel coloring book

Coloring books are a relaxing escape for many people, and what better way to do so than to focus on travel? I’ve picked up several travel coloring books over the years, and they’re such a fun way to unwind or distract myself from everyday stress.

I especially like the ColorIt – Around The World In 50 Pages and Splendid Cities. Both cost under $20 and make great stocking stuffers or additions to a themed holiday gift basket.

Price: $16$19.99

Travel Journal

A travel journal is a great gift for a frequent traveler, providing a space to collect memories and process experiences. I started this site as a sort of travel journal, but over the years I’ve realized I need a dedicated space to express my thoughts without judgment. Journaling allows me to do that and I’ve greatly enjoyed reconnecting with my inner voice.

This faux suede and gold journal from World Market is a great option – it’s beautiful, sturdy, and portable. I also love this travel journal with its colorful cover and useful prompts

Price: $15.99$18.49

Clever Fox Travel Planner

Research shows that the act of travel planning is often more joyful than the trip itself. I can certainly vouch for that, which is why I love planning trips for friends and family – even if I’m not joining them.

This travel planner from Clever Fox is a great tool for keeping track of travel aspirations, budgets, packing lists, and more. At under $20, it’s a budget-friendly travel gift that won’t break the bank.

Price: $19.99

Rocketbook

Rocketbook makes reusable notebooks and planners that are budget-friendly alternatives to the Moleskine Smart Writing Set. You simply write in the Rocketbook notebook and use the accompanying app to store your notes. Once you’ve done so, you can erase your notes and start over.

A Rocketbook journal or planner makes a great gift for any traveler who likes writing with an actual pen but wants the convenience of digitizing their notes. If you ever lose your journal or planner on the road, your work isn’t lost.

Price: $19.18$29.17

Travel subscriptions

Subscriptions to travel websites can be a great gift for frequent travelers. It can save them money and improve their travel experience all year round. The best part? Many travel deal sites are offering discounted memberships, so you can save money by giving an immensely useful travel gift. Here’s a list of some of the best options:

Dis-loyalty membership

If you’re looking for a great gift for frequent travelers that saves them money on hotels, Dis-loyalty could be a great choice. It’s a membership-based travel site with an interesting concept: Members get 50% off room rates at newly opened hotels. They receive 20% off when staying at a hotel for the first time and 10% after. Members also receive 10% off food and drinks, plus 365 free “barista-made” drinks every year at participating hotel restaurants and bars.

Participating hotels include high-end brands like the Montage, SLS, Hoxton, and Rixox hotels. The 50% discount applies to the first three months a hotel is open, and currently includes the SO/ Maldives.

There are currently over 75 hotels in the Dis-loyalty portfolio in cities worldwide, including in London, Paris, New York, Chicago and more.

Dis-loyalty membership costs $216 per year or $18 per month. Through Dec. 4, 2025 membership is discounted to $11.70 per month or $140.40 per year. This is one gift any luxury traveler will appreciate.

Price: $140.40 per year

Going membership

Finding great travel deals is challenging for most folks, which is what makes a Going membership such a fantastic gift idea. For a limited time, Going is dropping the subscription fees by up to 50%.

This is a great gift idea for aspiring travelers who need a little help finding those money-saving deals. Going allows you to set up alerts based on your preferred departure airport(s) and destination(s). Each membership tier offers different perks, all designed to help you find the best flight deals.

Going Premium membership

  • 1 year = $39.99 (was $49)
  • 2 years = $54.99 (was $98)
  • 5 years = $129.99 (was $245)

Going Elite membership

  • 1 year = $124.99 (was $199)
  • 2 years = $249.99 (was $398)
  • 5 years = $499.99 (was $995)

Point.me subcription

Full disclosure: I have a relationship with Point.me. I write and edit for the site, but I’ve also had a membership and think it’s a fantastic tool for newbies who need a little help redeeming their points and miles

Point.me has a free basic membership, but members can upgrade to a Standard or Premium subscription for access to real-time award availability, booking instructions, and more. Upgraded membership starts at $129, and you can also purchase consultations for $200.

You can use promo code GIFT15 to get 15% off a Point.me gift card, which can be redeemed for a subscription or other service. Here’s a list of current subscription fees (before the discount).

  • 1 year Standard membership = $129
  • 1 year Premium membership = $260
  • Concierge booking = $200
  • Mileage run = $200
  • Points strategy consultation = $200

Points Yeah (30% off)

Points Yeah is another great travel search tool that helps members find award inventory for both flights and hotels. The hotel part can be especially useful if you’ve got your eye on hard-to-book properties like the Waldorf Astoria Maldives.

While there is a free version, the premium membership provides access to an eight-day range and up to 32 flight alerts. Premium Points Yeah membership typically costs $89.99 but is currently on sale for $62.99. A Points Yeah membership makes a great gift for travelers who want to score rare award inventory for aspirational hotels and flights.

Price: $62.99

Seats.Aero (30% off new memberships)

Seats.Aero is an excellent flight award inventory tool. The user interface isn’t quite as glamorous as Point.Me, but it’s a great tool and easy to use. You can enter numerous departure and destination points or see what’s available during a specific date. I like that Seats.Aero shows a table with all cabins included, not just the ones you searched for (plus number of seats available for booking).

You can gift a Seats.Aero membership to your favorite points traveler and get 30% off by using code FRIDAY. This deal is available to new members only and ends Nov. 29th at 11:59 pm (PT).

Price: $70

Tripit Pro

Tripit Pro is an excellent gift idea for frequent travelers who want an easy way to track their plans. A few years ago, Tripit Pro was free with the Barclay Arrival World Mastercard, so I had a lot of experience using it. It was fantastic: I would get gate change and flight alerts before the airline notified me. I never renewed my membership, but now that there’s a 50% off sale, I’ll be upgrading to Tripit Pro for just $24.50.

Even at $49, a Pro membership was worth it, but at $24.50 it’s an even better deal. A Tripit Pro subscription is a useful and thoughtful gift for any frequent traveler who needs a little help staying on top of their numerous travel plans.

Price: $24.50

Travel gift cards

Travel gift cards are the way to go if you want to appease the most discerning and difficult people to shop for. They provide the utmost flexibility and you can often get them at a discount. If you want to give the gift of travel, here are some great options:

Club1 gift cards

Club1 Hotels is a members-only travel site that offers steep discounts on hotel stays. They’re not always the cheapest, but when they are, the discounts are substantial. For example, years ago, I saved $1,300 on a three-night stay at the Nizuc Cancun resort

I’m always seeing incredible deals for hotels in Las Vegas and Mexico. I recently found a six-night stay at the all-inclusive Hilton Tulumn for $800 less than the Hilton website. Meanwhile, the Waldorf Astoria Cancun turned up savings off over $1,400 over six nights. Club1 even lets you book hotels in Cuba, which are otherwise restricted on other travel websites.

Now on to the gift part: Through Dec. 20, 2024, Club1 is offering gift cards for up to 30% off. You can stack these gift cards with Club1’s discounted rates for fantastic savings. For example, I’ll be using it to knock another 25% off my Hilton Tulum stay this Spring, which is already $800 less than the Hilton website.

Club1 membership is free for anyone who uses my link. Once you join, you get access to incredible discounts for a full year and they’re not limited to hotels either: Club1 lets you book flights, cruises, vacation packages, tours and more.

Note: I’ll earn a small commission for anyone who signs up for Club1 with my link or buys gift cards. Thanks for your support!

Southwest gift cards

Through Dec. 2, 2024, Costco and Sam’s Club are both offering fantastic discounts on Southwest Airlines gift cards. During this sale, you can buy $500 Southwest gift cards for just $429.99. These gift cards make a fantastic gift for any traveler who likes to fly Southwest Airlines.

With a vast route network and two free checked bags per passenger (which hopefully won’t go away any time soon), Southwest is a great airline for travel within the U.S. and a few destinations abroad.

Airbnb gift cards

Speaking of Sam’s Club, they’re also running a sale on Airbnb gift cards: $484.80 for a $500 gift card and $96.96 for $100. There’s also a deal on a $50 gift card that’s only visible to members (which I’m not). Still, saving around 15% on Airbnb gift cards is a great opportunity to gift travel to your favorite jetsetter.

Where to shop for travel gifts

Some of the best places to buy travel gifts include Amazon, Costco and World Market. These stores offer great deals and unique travel gifts at great prices. Amazon is especially great for fast shipping (if you have Amazon Prime) and a wide selection of products. Of course, quality control is a little lax, which is an area Costco excels in.

If you’re going to stop at Amazon, be sure to compare the rates against other stores to make sure you’re getting the best deal possible.

Bottom Line

Travelers can be tricky to shop for, but the right gift can make their journeys more comfortable, memorable, and efficient. Hopefully this list gave you some ideas or (hopefully) put your gifting quest to an end. Either way, I’d love to know what you think of this list and if there are any travel gift ideas you want to share in the comments.
