Earn miles for using the Bing search engine

Back in the day (as in like a year and a half ago) I used to make a killing by using the Hawaiian Airlines toolbar for my web searches.. That cash cow died when Hawaiian capped earnings at 1,000 miles. Now Bing has jumped in on the action, offering users a chance to earn points and miles for using the Bing search engine.

Earn miles for using Bing Search

Members earn 20 credits just for signing up in addition to 1 credit for every 2 searches, up to 15 credits per day. 400 credits can be redeemed for 100 points/miles from one of the following programs:

  • Hawaiian Airlines
  • IHG Rewards Club
  • US airways Dividend Miles
  • Virgin America Elevate

Points/Miles are paid out in the form of a voucher that will expire within 6 months, but I can’t imagine any of you will hold off on depositing them into your rewards accounts right away.

If you were to earn the maximum 15 credits per day, you’d earn 100 points/miles each month, which isn’t amazing but if you’re using the Bing search engine any way, it’s a nice way to top off your account and keep miles form expiring.

There’s also an option to redeem points for FuelCircle Rewards, which gets you gas discounts at Exxon, Chevron, Sunoco, or BP stations. To redeem for this reward, you’ll need 525 credits for 510 FuelCircle points. FuelCircle requires 2,550 points for $25 in free gas. In a year, you could redeem 10 of these FuelCircle Rewards, bringing your total to $50 in gas rewards. Not amazing, but again, if you’re using Bing anyway you might as well get rewarded for it.

You can also earn miles by referring up to 100 friends. You’ll earn 500 credits for each friend who joins and reaches Silver status. These 500 credits are enough to redeem 100 frequent flyer miles/points and almost enough towards $5 in gas rewards. Earning Silver status requires the following:

  • Complete the Welcome to Rewards tour
  • Complete the Welcome to Bing tour
  • <Pick a reward and set it as a goal
  • Earn 200 lifetime credits

Here is my Bing Rewards referral link, but feel free to include your own in the comment section.

Note, this isn’t going to be the next mileage cash cow, but something to be aware of it you’re using Bing and looking to get rewarded for giving them your business.

I remember when they had Club Bing, which was a way to drum up searches by having users play word games and earn prizes. Very far-off marketing practices.
