When Hyatt introduced Points + Cash bookings last year, it was great news since Points + Cash bookings are an excellent way to stretch Hyatt points further. The only down side was that these awards had to be booked over the phone. It wasn’t a big deal, but the ability to book the award online would have been much more convenient.
Now Hyatt has done just that, allowing Points + Cash rates to be booked online and via the Hyatt mobile app. You can use both channels to upgrade a standard room to a club room using 3,000 points per night.
Booking Hyatt Points + Cash Online
Whether you’re booking through the website or mobile app, you don’t have to be logged in to see these new booking options. Keep in mind, however, that you won’t see either of these rates until you click through to the hotel website from Hyatt.com.
When you’re on the hotel website, be sure to check off “Show Hyatt Gold Passport Points & Awards.” That’s when you’ll notice the gold tabs allowing you to choose between free nights, points + cash, or Club Room with Upgrade.
Booking Hyatt Points + Cash through the Hyatt Mobile App
Booking a Points + Cash award through the Hyatt mobile app is just as simple. Enter the hotel city and dates. On the results page, check off “Show Hyatt Gold Passport Points”. Just like with web bookings, you’ll only initially see free night award rates.
Clicking through to the hotel website will display the Points + Cash rates as well as the option to upgrade a paid stay to a club room using points.
Final Thoughts
The ability to book Hyatt Points + Cash awards online and on the mobile app is great news. If you earn your points via manufactured spending, Hyatt Points + Cash stays are often cheaper than award nights.
If Hyatt runs another mobile app booking promotion and doesn’t exclude Points + Cash stays, this could be a great way to take advantage of the promotion and still get the best value out of your points and miles.
The only thing missing now is the ability to redeem a Diamond Suite Night Award online, but I’m sure that’s coming eventually.
